I thought I’d t…

I thought I’d tell you because you might notice the bump when I next see you.

The joys of having one of your closest friends tell you that she’s five months pregnant.

She might as well have called me in June after labour!

I opened Pandora's box and infertility entered my life.

Ouf. What can I say? If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this journey, it’s that people are wierd, and hurtful in ways they don’t even realise. So sorry you’re having to experience this. I know how you feel (my sister in law actually DID let us know after she’d gone into labour, and brought the baby home!). Hang in there!

    • Ouch at your sister-in-law doing that. I really love my friends who have announced it by calling/texting me and saying ‘I really didn’t know how to say this to you and I wish we were doing this together but..’

Is that how your close friend broke it to you? Sucks..

You may hate me for saying this but perhaps she was hoping you would get your BFP soon and then it would be easier on you? Maybe she didn’t know how to tell you this news and now that it will be seen shortly, she had no option.
Pregnant women can sometimes act crazy , forgive her. Lets face it, only a women who has been through infertility has the compassion and sensibility on breaking such news in the right way. Most , no matter how well meaning they are, just don’t get it.

In the meanwhile, be nice to yourself and don’t take what she did personally. Don’t give up hope and have faith. The Lord will answer our prayers soon.

    • I love how positive you are. To be honest, I think she was more concerned about evil eye than protecting my feelings. She said to me after announcing her pregnancy ‘pray for me’, my jaw dropped because it didn’t occur to her to pray for me.

Bleargh. Selfishly, I want people to tell me when they start trying, then let me know it has worked before they show and before they tell the world. I hate surprises of this kind. This may be slightly unrealistic and self centred of me, but I can dream can’t I.

I can totally sympathize. One of my best friends also told me she was 5 months, right after I found out about infertility, and she made sure to tell me that we needed to have lots of fun because once you’re pregnant it’s no fun. Yup, scans, early morn wake ups, tests of all sorts are indeed loads of fun!

i’ve had this from several friends. stupid people, wish they hadn’t told me at all, then wouldn’t have needed to go to their baby showers or buy cute little baby clothes that i don’t know when i’ll ever be able to buy for myself!

Oh, what a power is motherhood, possessing
A potent spell. All women alike
Fight fiercely for a child.
